Find Lassen County Inmate Records

Lassen County inmate records start with the sheriff's jail custody system, but the official pages reviewed did not show a public online jail roster. To look up Lassen County inmates, first decide whether the person is in the county jail, state prison, federal prison, or immigration custody. Current county jail records are routed through the Adult Detention Facility and sheriff records contact, while formal charges are searched through the court portal after filing. State, federal, and immigration systems use separate locators.

Lassen County Jail Records Overview

The Lassen County Adult Detention Facility is the primary county jail for adults arrested or sentenced for state crimes in Lassen County. The jail is operated by the Lassen County Sheriff's Office as a Type II local detention facility, which means it may hold pretrial detainees and sentenced county inmates. A person arrested by CHP, Susanville Police, Probation, CDCR, Cal-Fire, Herlong Security, the FBI, or another agency can still enter the county jail because the county jail page says those agencies may book people there.

No official Lassen County online jail roster, current-inmates table, booking log, or vendor roster link was found on the county or sheriff pages reviewed. Third-party roster pages should not be treated as official sources for Lassen County inmate records. The county-level search therefore starts with the jail information line at (530) 251-5245 and then moves to the Sheriff's Office records contact when a document, routing answer, or records request may be needed.

Use Lassen County Custody Channels

The local search chain is practical and source-based. The jail phone handles current custody questions first because there is no verified public roster. Sheriff's records can route document questions. The court portal handles filed charges after the prosecutor opens a criminal case. CDCR, BOP, ICE, and VINELink cover people who are no longer in the county jail or who were never county inmates.

  1. Call the Adult Detention Facility at (530) 251-5245 for current custody confirmation, housing or visitation routing, and basic booking questions.
  2. Contact sheriff records at 1415 Sheriff Cady Lane, Susanville, CA 96130, (530) 251-8013, or sheriff@co.lassen.ca.us if a record copy or formal routing answer is needed.
  3. Search the Lassen Superior Court case index and calendar portal for formal charges, hearings, and case status after filing.
  4. Use CDCR CIRIS if the person was sentenced to state prison or transferred to CDCR custody.
  5. Use the BOP locator for federal custody and ICE ODLS for immigration detention.
  6. Register with California VINELink when the need is custody-status notification rather than a record copy.

Lassen County Roster Search Fields

A normal jail roster page might ask for a last name, first name, booking number, or facility. The official Lassen County pages reviewed did not expose that kind of form. The correct field table is therefore a negative finding, not a missing detail. Do not assume a public profile can be searched by last name or that a booking-number field exists on an official Lassen County jail site unless a later verified official source adds it.

Lassen County Inmate Record Fields

No official public Lassen County roster profile was captured, so profile fields should be described from statutes, jail policy topics, and court sources rather than as a visible web profile. California Penal Code 13300 defines local summary criminal history information to include identity, physical description, arrest dates, arresting agencies, booking numbers, charges, dispositions, and similar data. Public release depends on the requester, purpose, and record type.

Field or TopicWhat It Shows
Name and date of birthIdentity details used in booking and local summary criminal history, subject to release limits.
Arresting agencyThe agency that brought the person to the jail, which may be sheriff, CHP, Susanville Police, Probation, CDCR, Cal-Fire, Herlong Security, FBI, or another agency.
Booking numberA local booking identifier recognized in criminal-history law, though no public Lassen format was found.
ChargesBooking charges may differ from the District Attorney's filed complaint or later court amendments.
Housing or classificationInternal placement such as SHU, pod, dorm, female general population, or outside worker housing, when releasable.
Release statusCustody or release information that may require jail confirmation or VINELink notification rather than a public web profile.

Lassen County Jail Facilities

The county jail system includes the main Adult Detention Facility on Sheriff Cady Lane and the Jail Annex on Chestnut Street. The main jail page reports a capacity of 156, average daily population of 120, and about 1,400 bookings per year. The 2023 RFP reports different figures, including 228 capacity and 2,022 bookings in 2022. The annex is listed separately by BSCC as a Type II facility with 40 beds and by the RFP as 20 double-occupancy cells.

Lassen County Booking Process

Official policy sources describe the custody process as formal intake rather than a simple name listing. A new arrival is received through Booking or Intake, identity and arrest paperwork are reviewed, property is inventoried, searches or body-scanner procedures may apply, and medical and mental-health screening occurs under custody policy topics. The inmate then receives orientation or handbook information and is classified for housing. Lassen's PREA and RFP sources describe pod and dorm-style housing, SHU cells, general-population dorms, female housing, outside worker housing, and the annex cells.

The Public Defender materials connect that booking process to court. After arrest, the District Attorney decides what charges to file in a complaint. At arraignment, the court provides a copy of the complaint, and felony cases may later proceed to a preliminary hearing and Information. A new arrest may not appear in court records right away because the court portal syncs on a schedule and may lag several days. For a very recent arrest, the jail phone is more useful than the court portal.

The Sheriff's policies page links jail procedures, the custody manual, PREA audit material, and other official policy PDFs that support the intake, classification, release, grievance, and custody-process discussion.

Lassen County Jail Visits

The official public jail page did not publish a family visiting schedule, online scheduling vendor, video visit vendor, or deposit vendor. The 2019 Jail Procedures Manual does document official visits. Those are visits by an attorney, physician, behavioral health provider, clergy, alcohol or drug counselor, law-enforcement agent, or defense contractor. Official visits generally occur in the attorney/client room, do not count against the inmate's one hour weekly regular visiting time, and are listed as 0600-2400 hours except facility counts and approval limits.

County State and Federal Inmates

The county jail records path does not cover every incarcerated person in Lassen County. High Desert State Prison is a CDCR institution for sentenced state prisoners. FCI Herlong is a BOP facility for sentenced federal male offenders. ICE ODLS is used for immigration custody and no ICE detention facility was found in Lassen County. A county booking can also be affected by a warrant, detainer, probation or parole hold, CDCR matter, federal hold, or ICE issue, which may prevent release even when the local case might otherwise allow it.

Lassen County Sheriff App

The official Lassen County Sheriff CA app appears in the Apple App Store and Google Play. Store text describes public-safety news, crime reporting, tip submission, and other interactive features. It also says the app is not for emergency reporting. No app-store text advertised an inmate roster, warrant search, most-wanted list, booking photo gallery, or records-request portal. Use the app as a public-safety information channel, not as a replacement for the jail phone or sheriff records contact.

The Apple App Store listing identifies the app as Lassen County Sheriff CA and describes communication, tips, and public-safety news features.

The iOS listing supports a limited app note, but it does not turn the app into an inmate-records lookup source.

The Google Play listing carries similar public-safety wording and does not advertise a jail roster, warrant database, or booking-photo tool.

The Android listing confirms the app should be treated as a communication channel, not as a replacement for official custody records.
